STORY
In the summer of 2022, on a remote Greek beach, a tiny mussel washed out to the shore —a masterpiece shaped by nature’s artistry. Its details captured the essence of organic beauty, giving birth to Esmée Jewellery & Objects.
This creative journey began in a quest to embody a fusion of craftsmanship and nature’s brilliance. Esmée Jewellery & Objects celebrates the extraordinary in the everyday.
OUR WORLD
Behind Esmée
Esmeralda Momferratou is a visual artist and founder of Esmée Jewellery & Objects. A graduate of Central Saint Martins, London, where she earned a BA in Performance Design and Practice and an MA in Fine Art, her work is shaped by a long-standing fascination with found objects and the quiet narratives they carry. Collecting natural and man-made remnants encountered through everyday life has long been central to her artistic practice. This ongoing practice extends into jewellery and objects, transforming found forms into objects to wear and live with. Each piece is created with the intention of preserving the singular character of the original object through contemporary craftsmanship, carrying its memory into everyday life.
Both Esmeralda and Esmée Jewellery & Objects take their name from her late grandmother, Esmée, whom she never had the chance to meet. Through the stories of those who knew her, she came to know her as a woman who constantly created and transformed everyday things into something meaningful, playful and unique.
Equally important is the influence of her grandmother, Eleni, after whom Esmeralda was given her middle name. Together, they searched for fragments of ancient objects during walks around Aegina and the Acropolis, and made paint from flowers.
MADE TO ORDER
Each piece is made to order and carefully handcrafted in our Athens studio. This considered approach allows us to devote time and attention to every detail while producing only what is needed. Please allow 1–3 weeks for production and dispatch, depending on the complexity of the piece.
